Turn Your Inner Critic into Your Inner Coach - eBook

A$9.95

This workbook was created as an introduction to your inner critic and inner coach. From this workbook you may start to consider the impact these thoughts have on your daily living. Being able to do this can be helpful when going through life transitions.

Think about two coaches at a football game. One coach is yelling and putting down the players. Whilst the other coach is encouraging players to see their strengths and view their weaknesses as points to work on. Out of these two coaches, which team would try harder, give things a go and be willing to make mistakes in order to learn? This is just a quick example of how powerful the dialogue from your inner voice can be.

Here’s some samples of what to expect in the workbook.

Our inner critic formed for a functional reason, to protect you. Our brains created this mode to help us avoid an unwanted consequence in the environment we grew up in. If our caregivers did a good enough job at meeting our needs and were reasonably consistent with their care, then we were likely to experience a supportive environment. We also would have experienced warmth, care, respect, and compassion. Over time we would have internalised a caring and supportive voice that mimicked this experience of the nurturing caregiver. This is the inner coach. It is that inner voice that supports, loves, and encourages us.

Additionally growing up we may have had experiences where we felt belittled, unsafe, or we felt unseen.
